Holiday Beauty Prep

What to Do Now So You’re Not Scrambling Later

Can we talk about how quickly the holidays sneak up on us?!

One minute we’re enjoying the last few warm days of fall, and the next thing we know, we’re looking at the calendar thinking, “Wait…Thanksgiving is HOW soon?” 😂

If you have holiday parties, family gatherings, photos, travel, or just a long list of things to do, a little beauty prep now can save you from a whole lot of scrambling later. And no, I’m not suggesting you need a 47-step beauty routine. You know me better than that!

Start With Your Hair

If you know you want your hair colored, highlighted, cut, or treated before the holidays, don’t wait until the last minute to think about it.

Holiday appointments can fill up quickly, so getting your appointments on the calendar early is one of the easiest things you can do.

This is also not necessarily the time to decide you want a completely different haircut or color two days before a big event. 😆

If you’re thinking about making a bigger change, give yourself some time. It’s much easier to make adjustments when you’re not working against a deadline.

Give Your Hair Some Extra TLC

The weeks leading up to the holidays are a great time to focus on keeping your hair healthy and manageable.

Add a weekly mask if your hair needs extra moisture, be consistent with heat protectant, and try not to pile on more heat styling than necessary.

Healthy, well-conditioned hair is going to cooperate a lot better when it’s time to style it!

Get Your Skin on a Routine

This isn’t the month to suddenly try five new skincare products because you have a party coming up next weekend.

Instead, think consistency.

Keep your skin cleansed, moisturized, and protected with SPF during the day. If you already have products that work well for you, stick with them.

And if your skin tends to get drier once the weather gets colder, now is the time to add a little extra moisture rather than waiting until your skin is already unhappy!

Don’t Forget the Little Things

Holiday beauty isn’t just about your hair.

If you normally have your brows, nails, lashes, or other beauty appointments done, take a look at the calendar and plan ahead.

And Please…Don’t Experiment Right Before the Party

The couple of months before a big event is probably not the best time to try a brand-new skincare product, drastically change your hair color, attempt a complicated new hairstyle, or give yourself a completely new beauty routine.

Save the experimenting for when you have some time to recover if things don’t go exactly as planned!

The holidays are busy enough without adding unnecessary beauty stress to the list.

A little planning now means you can spend less time scrambling later — and a lot more time enjoying the people, parties, and moments that make this time of year so special!!

Some of my favorites to try this month!
